Redskins players have always loved giving back to their communities, in both the DMV and their hometowns. Ryan Kerrigan’s Blitz for The Better Foundation, Nick Sundberg’s Loads of Love with the Redskins’ Charitable Foundation, and Vernon Davis’ Foundation for the Arts, are some of the few charities the players are involved with.
The Redskins running back from LSU, Derrius Guice is now added to the list. His latest efforts have been starting a Go Fund Me to raise money for the Mary Bird Perkins Center, a cancer center in the running back’s hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
In the description of the fundraiser, Guice says:
“I will play anyone on Fornite that donates $5”
“Everyone who donates $25 will be entered to win a signed/worn LSU cleats.”
“Everyone who donates $50 will get to come bowl and hang out with me next Friday, June 29th at All-Star Lanes in Baton Rouge from 12-5 pm”
“Everyone who donates $100 or more will be entered to win 2 tickets to the Monday Night Football game- Redskins vs. Saints in New Orleans on 10/08/18.”
“I WILL MATCH THE FIRST $1,000 IN DONATIONS!”
Guice’s inspiration comes from his best friend’s mother who went to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and was able to leave ringing the bell. When a patient rings the bell it means they have beaten cancer. It is evident that Derruis Guice is committed to positively impacting his community on and off the field.
It has only been 5 days and Guice has raised $17,585 of his $20,000 goal. To help this great cause follow the link to his go fund me page. HTTR!
