Around The Water Cooler: Redskins Lose To Giants, 27-23

The Washington Redskins yesterday were one minute and 13 seconds away from escaping with a thrilling, last-minute win over the defending Super Bowl champions. But New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning had other plans, and his 77-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Victor Cruz provided the dagger in the Redskins’ 27-23 loss to the Giants in front of 81,352 fans at MetLife Stadium.

Had it not been for Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III’s heroics just more than one minute prior to that Giants touchdown, however, Washington would’ve ... Read More

It took a quarter for the Washington Redskins to get things going yesterday against the Minnesota Vikings, but once they hit the gas pedal, they never let up. The Redskins defeated the Vikings 38-26 to earn their first home win at FedExField since last September.

There were many key plays throughout the game for the Redskins (3-3), and the team’s offense, defense and special teams all played a huge part. But there was one particularly electrifying play that sealed the win for Washington and sent the 78,000-plus in attendance at FedExField into pandemonium.

    Andrew Walker

The Washington Redskins put forth a solid effort against one of the best teams in the NFL in the Atlanta Falcons yesterday at FedExField, but in the end they fell just short, as the Redskins lost 24-17 in their second home game of the season.

The Falcons (5-0) came into the game with the third-best scoring offense in the league, led by MVP candidate and quarterback Matt Ryan and his trio of talented receivers in Roddy White, Julio Jones and tight end Tony Gonzalez.

But the Redskins’ defense was able to keep up with that potent Falcons offense ... Read More

  • Around The Water Cooler: Redskins Victorious Against Bucs, 24-22

    10.01.2012 / Blog Posts Redskins

The Washington Redskins headed into yesterday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers desperate for a win, and that’s exactly what they got. Although it wasn’t a perfect performance by any means, the Redskins pulled out a last-second, 24-22 victory over the Bucs at Raymond James Stadium in Florida.

Things were going very smoothly for the Redskins coming out of halftime. They led 21-6 and were dominant both offensively and defensively against the Buccaneers. But the hometown team just wouldn’t go away, and turned in several huge second-half plays to score 16 unanswered points and take a ... Read More

  • Monday Morning Water Cooler: Redskins Lose To Bengals, 38-31

    Andrew Walker

Yesterday’s 2012 home opener for the Washington Redskins featured several ups and downs, and even though the Redskins made a final push to tie the game at the end, the visiting Cincinnati Bengals were just too much, as the Redskins lost 38-31 to move to 1-2 on the young season.

There were several big plays by the Redskins’ offense to take away from yesterday’s game, but it was a big play by the defense that set the tone early against the Bengals (2-1). Four minutes into the game, the Bengals had the ball in the shadow ... Read More

  • Monday Morning Water Cooler: Redskins Fall To Rams, 31-28

    09.17.2012 / Blog Posts Redskins

    Andrew Walker

Yesterday’s game began on a very promising note for the Redskins, but a frustrating second half performance against the St. Louis Rams led to the team’s first loss of the year, 31-28, at the Edward Jones Dome in the shadow of the St. Louis Arch.

The Rams received the opening kickoff of the game and began from their own 20-yard line. On their first offensive play of the game, St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford found wide receiver Danny Amendola for a 13-yard gain, but as he was being tackled, Redskins linebacker Perry Riley stripped the ball ... • Around The Water Cooler: Redskins Defeat The Saints 40-32

    09.10.2012 / Blog Posts Redskins

    By Andrew Walker

The Washington Redskins opened their 2012 season with a bang Sunday, as they went into New Orleans and defeated the hometown Saints 40-32 in front of a loud crowd at the Superdome.

There were several keys to Sunday's victory, but we'll focus on the obvious: Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III played marvelously in his first-ever NFL game.

Griffin III started the game on fire through the Redskins' first two series on offense, completing his first seven passes for 123 yards and a touchdown. His favorite target early was wide receiver Pierre Garçon, who, on ... Read More

Lorenzo Alexander has a lot going on besides football. Father and husband, founder and president of the ACES Foundation focused on under-served youth, founder and part-owner of a local Pilates and fitness studio. The list goes on, and we didn't include his spot as one of the Redskins Team Captains last year.

When WOW asked the linebacker how he manages it all, he replied, "I wouldn't be able to do it...without my wife. She is definitely my rock...without her I'd be lost."

As the team's female fan club, WOW had to sit down with ... Read More
