  • Redskins End Season On Eight-Game Losing Streak

    12.30.2013 / Blog Posts Redskins

On Sunday, the Washington Redskins squared off against the New York Giants with the opportunity to end a frustrating season on a high note. Slow out of the gates, the Redskins failed to score a touchdown and fell victim to enemy onslaught for the eighth straight time by the final score of 20-6.

One season after registering off seven straight victories on an improbable run to an NFC East championship and home playoff game, the Redskins posted their first three-win campaign since 1999.

It was also the first time the burgundy and gold failed to win a divisional game since ... Read More

On Sunday, the Washington Redskins faced the Dallas Cowboys for the second time this season.

With the emotion of current NFL ironman London Fletcher, whose donned burgundy and gold for the last seven years, playing his last home game and the possibility of dashing the Cowboys’ playoff hopes, FedExField was the site of another memorable clash between NFC East foes.

But just like Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons, the Redskins fell short by one point, this time by a final score of 24-23.

Offensively, the Redskins were led by wide receiver Pierre Garcon who had a ... Read More

The Washington Redskins were a fingertip away from mounting a comeback led by sophomore quarterback Kirk Cousins making his first start of the season.

Instead, the Redskins left the Georgia Dome on Sunday with a loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Final Score: Redskins 26, Falcons 27.

After Cousins led the troops on a clock eating 13-play drive for 80 yards, he found 13-year veteran Santana Moss on a quick out route in the front of the end zone to pull the Redskins within one.

With playoff implications a non-factor, head coach Mike Shanahan elected to ... Read More

On Sunday, the Washington Redskins hosted the Kansas City Chiefs under wintry conditions, as snow and sleet fell from the sky all afternoon. The elements along with a concoction of self-inflicted mishaps on offense, defense and special teams cost the Redskins, as the Chiefs waltzed to a 45-10 victory.

Washington is now 3-10 on the season.

The Chiefs rode Pro Bowl talent Jamaal Charles early and often, as the running back registered 151 yards on the ground on only 19 carries. In the second quarter, his two-yard touchdown gave Kansas City a sizable 24-0 lead ... Read More

The Washington Redskins came out of the gates quickly on Sunday night, achieving something they didn’t do against the San Francisco 49ers just six days earlier or on any prior opening drive this season—score a touchdown.

The opening drive, however, was the highlight of another second half slump as the Redskins fell to the New York Giants 24-17, dropping their record to 3-9 and officially eliminating them from playoff contention.

Quarterback Robert Griffin III quickly shook off last week’s underwhelming performance, connecting on his first 12 passes including five on the first ... Read More

After a 2012 season in which the Washington Redskins registered seven consecutive victories en route to an unpredictable division crowning, the burgundy and gold were selected to appear in five national television appearances, the maximum allotment.

Through four primetime games, the Redskins have yet to claim victory as they fell once again last night on Monday Night Football 27-6 to the San Francisco 49ers.

It was also the first time the Redskins failed to score a touchdown during the Robert Griffin III era, as two Kai Forbath field goals accounted for the team’s only points ... Read More

  • Redskins Comeback Falls Short Against Eagles

For the second time in three seasons, the Washington Redskins were swept by the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Redskins made it tight at the end, but the early 24-point hole was too much to overcome as they fell 24-16.

Offensively, the Redskins were led by running back Alfred Morris in the first half as the sophomore carried the pigskin 18 times for 85 yards. It was the most carries he’s recorded in any half through the first 26 regular season games of his career.

While Morris was churning yards and moving the chains, the passing game ... Read More

Despite appearing on track to have the first winning streak of the season, the Washington Redskins let a 13-point second half led fade away in a bitter 34-27 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.

All season the headlines read that the offense couldn’t score in the first half.

That wasn’t the case last night.

Robert Griffin III came out guns blazing, throwing three touchdown passes in the first 30 minutes. The performance was a flashback to the second quarter of the Redskins-Cowboys game on Thanksgiving last season.

Alfred Morris once again eclipsed the century mark ... Read More

On Sunday, the Washington Redskins hosted over 100 alumni at the annual homecoming game against the San Diego Chargers.

Despite honoring the 1987 squad that won Super Bowl XXII in the most lopsided game in Super Bowl history at the time, the 2013 Redskins had their second-straight nail-biting home victory.

Up 24-21 with a little over two minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Chargers marched down the field and appeared to score the game-winning touchdown with 21 seconds left. However, after an official ruling overturned the original call, the Chargers had the ... Read More
