    On Wednesday, December 10, the Washington Redskins announced FB Darrel Young as the team’s nomination to be the 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year.

    The Man of the Year honor has been designated annually since 1970 by the NFL to recognize not only a player’s talent on the field, but also in the community through service and volunteer efforts.

    Through his own individual efforts as well as work with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation (WRCF), Young has attended 33 community events this year.

    The Washington Redskins on Sunday visited the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. While the Redskins were able to find ways to beat the Colts at times, they ultimately fell by a final of 49-27.

    The offense was led by quarterback Colt McCoy who was making his second start of the season. McCoy really hit his stride late in the second quarter, finding running back Roy Helu Jr. for a 21-yard score just before halftime.

    The Washington Redskins on Sunday fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a final of 27-7.

     

    On offense, running back Roy Helu Jr. scored his first receiving touchdown of the season – and first since his rookie season -- in the second quarter, as he took a pass from quarterback Robert Griffin III 30 yards to the house.

     

    The Nebraska product finished the day with 6 receptions for 57 yards.

    This Sunday, November 16, the Redskins will take the field against the Buccaneers in their annual #SaluteToService game. Throughout the month of November, 32 games will be played in honor of American servicemen and women, past and present. For each point scored, the NFL has been donating $100 to each of its military appreciation partners-the Pat Tillman Foundation, USO and Wounded Warrior Project. To date, over $200,000 has been raised this season.
