  • Ryan Clark Announces Retirement

    Redskins safety Ryan Clark, who just completed a one-year deal in his second stint with the team, announced his retirement today on ESPN, officially ending his impressive 13-year career in the NFL.

    Clark began his career as an undrafted free agent but made the Giants roster and played over 20 games for them before signing a two-year deal with the Redskins. He then joined the Steelers in 2006.

    Clark started 109 regular season games for Pittsburgh, making six playoff appearances and two Super Bowls, XLIII and XLV.

    This week’s #ThrowbackThursday marks a historic moment worth honoring.

    On January 31, 1988, former Washington Redskins player Doug Williams became the first African American quarterback to not only play in a Super Bowl, but to win the game and earn the MVP title.

    Williams, now 59, helped the Redskins defeat the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXII at the Jack Murphy stadium in San Diego, California. The final score was Washington 42, Denver 10.

  • Weekend Recap: DeSean Jackson Judges Miss Universe Pageant

    While Alfred Morris was representing the Redskins in the Pro Bowl on Sunday, Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson was helping judge the Miss Universe Pageant.

    Jackson was one of 10 celebrity judges. Other celebrity judges included actor and previously named Sexiest Man Alive in People En Espanol magazine, William Levy, music producer Emilio Estefan, baseball player Giancarlos Cruz-Michael Stanton and boxer superstar Manny Pacquiao.

    Colombian fashion-journalist Nina Garcia was also on the panel and was joined by "The Hills" star Kristin Cavallari, fashion guru Louise Roe, and "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Lisa Vanderpump.

    We now have two players to watch! Alfred Morris will join tackle Trent Williams in Arizona next weekend as a Redskins Pro Bowl representative for the 2014 season.

    The National Football League made it official on Monday that running back Alfred Morris has been selected to the 2015 Pro Bowl in place of Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy. The annual contest of the NFL's best will take place Sunday, January 25th at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

    In honor of Redskins Tackle Trent Williams' third consecutive NFL Pro Bowl selection since 2012, we’re throwing it back to his last three seasons with the team. Williams' selection is also the third of his career. This year's selection was announced on Tuesday, December 23rd.

  • Alfred Morris Rushes Past The 1,000 Yard Mark

    For the third consecutive season, Redskins RB Alfred Morris has surpassed the 1,000 yards rushing milestone!

     

    Drafted to the Redskins as a sixth round pick from Florida Atlantic University in 2012, Morris has started every game of his career in the NFL.

     

    In Saturday’s victory over the Eagles alone, Morris posted 21 catches for 83-yards and 1 TD.

     

    Morris now joins Redskins greats John Riggins, Clinton Portis and Stephen Davis as the only players in franchise history to have three season over 1,000 yards.

  • #FBF Redskins Play Their Last Game At RFK Stadium

    Monday, December 22, 2014, marked the 18th anniversary of the Redskins’ last game at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, D.C.

    RFK Stadium, formerly known as D.C. Stadium, first opened its doors to the team on October 1, 1961.

    Throughout the team’s 36-year-run at RFK, they posted an impressive 173 victories over 102 losses. 

    In true Redskins fashion, the team ended their time at RFK Stadium with a 37-10 win over the Cowboys to close out the 1996 regular season.  

    Since leaving RFK Stadium, the team has played at FedExField in Landover, MD.

  • DeSean Jackson Surpasses 1,000 Yard Mark

    Early into his first season with the Redskins, it was clear that WR DeSean Jackson was going to have a huge impact.

     

    During this Saturday’s victory over the Eagles, he solidified his place in franchise history, becoming the fifth Redskin to reach 1,000 receiving yards in his first season.

     

    Additionally, Jackson recorded 126-yards during the game, including two catches over 50-yards each which both led to touchdowns.

     

    Through these, Jackson also joins Bobby Mitchell and Art Monk as the only Redskins with at least six 100-yard games in a single season.
