    According to the Associated Press, Mary Doyle Keefe, the inspiration behind Norman Rockwell’s iconic WWII-era painting, “Rosie The Riveter,” died April 21, 2015 in Simsbury, Connecticut at the age of 92.

    In 1943, Keefe was 19 years old when she posed for Rockwell and what came to symbolize one of the biggest World War II efforts in history.
