Dear WOW! Members,
A new Season begins, time for new beginnings!!! What are you doing to get yours??? And are you ready??
There are a lot of parallels I can draw within the NFL game, which I know we all love.
For one, In the first game of the season, we saw Tom Brady start not only a new season, but he did it in new light. As a man vindicated by a Federal Judge for his role in 'DelfateGate'.
Brady was named the 2015 SuperBowl MVP, but all of that was overshadowed this off-season ... Read More

How We Met
Zach and I met in 2010 while attending James Madison University. We first laid eyes on each other while riding the bus together to a Marching Royal Dukes performance. Zach was captain of the JMU Drumline and I was captain of the JMU Dukettes Dance Team (yes, just like in the movie Drumline!). We exchanged phone numbers on the bus and kept the conversation short ... Read More
With the season opener right around the corner, it’s time to start packing those tailgate coolers! It wouldn’t be a Redskins game day without a good tailgate, right? You’ve stocked up on the classics, with everything from hot dogs to coleslaw to potato chips. Not surprisingly, many of the tailgate meals we crave are loaded with salt and have a high fat content. Keep your fellow tailgaters happy and healthy by swapping out traditional recipes with a few of our suggestions. You’ll kick off the season with a healthy – and delicious! – twist.

Contrary to popular belief, not every NFL franchise has professional cheerleaders. As of 2014, seven teams in the NFL Association do not have cheerleader organizations. Cheerleaders are an added attraction that awards a team more coverage/airtime, popular local support and increased media image. Often, cheerleaders are pursuing careers while being dancers for their perspective squads. Cheerleaders do not just show their athletic ability on the field during football games but also willingness to serve their community. These members participate in practice, training camp, games, appearances, photo shoots, and charity events.
NFL teams that do not have their own ... Read More

Wrinkles and Sun Damage
Sun damage accelerates the formation of discoloration, lines and creases. Prevention is the best medicine. Sunscreens have not been as effective as they are today, so chances are someone over the age of 10-15 has had significant sun exposure. What to do if one gets a sunburn? First do not make things worse by getting more sun-stay out or cover up. For the first 24-48 hours use Alleve/Motrin or Tylenol around the clock(Alleve is easier since twice a day dosage) and use a mild ... Read More

When the Redskins began rebuilding in the offseason, one of the first fixes had to start in the secondary after the retirement of safety Ryan Clark. In early April, they sealed the deal on Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson.
The Washington Redskins newest GM, Scot McCloughan, was the man who had initially brought the two-time Pro Bowler in to the NFL back with the 49ers. Now McCloughan has helped bring him here to Washington.
Goldson labels himself as an “enforcer” – The type of play he modeled after Redskins ... Read More

When is the last time you’ve smiled?
It seems very miniscule but studies show that smiling often proves to be healthier for your body and lifestyle!
In an article from Inspiyr, they listed 9 reasons as to why you should truly never stop smiling.
1. Smiling is contagious
Because of complex brain activity that occurs when you see someone smiling, smiles are contagious. Studies report that just seeing one person smiling activates the area of your brain that controls your facial movement, which leads to a grin.
Even in bad situations, if you smile, others are likely to mimic ... Read More

This year has marked several milestones for the NFL. In early April, Sarah Thomas became the NFL’s first full-time female employee as a referee. Just a few months later, Dr. Jen Welter made a splash on the scene after she was hired by the Cardinals to work with their linebackers.
And on Saturday, August 15, the two milestones united as the Cardinals vs. Chiefs pre-season game saw the first female coach and first female ref on the same field.
While both trailblazers have had their struggles on the road to success, they are immensely supported by their peers.

Each Monday, Redskins Salute shares a #MilitaryMonday blog post. This week's post featured Redskins fullback Darrel Young and his incredible tie to the United States Military. Here is their story:
Darrel Young, also known as DY, had an interesting up and coming when joining the Washington Redskins. He didn’t initially make the roster in 2009 as a rookie linebacker. As a result, he worked that season at Foot Locker hoping for another chance to accomplish his NFL dreams. His chance came in January of 2010 when he re-signed with the team and was converted to fullback.
The change ... Read More
