Governor Hogan was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in June of this year. Throughout his treatment, Hogan has continued his duties both as governor and as an active community member, becoming an advocate in the fight against all cancer. Hogan attended the Redskins season opener to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. This #WellnessWednesday, break up your workout regimen with this trending workout- Tabata!
What is it?
Tabata is a high intensity interval training workout. The idea is that a shorter workout can be just as effective as long, drawn out exercises. Tabata calls for you to give 20 seconds of maximal effort in one exercise, followed by 10 seconds of recovery, to be repeated multiple times.

Now that the summer is fading, time to review the changes the fall will bring to your skin.
Sometime around mid-October, the humidity will drop from its oppressive high to more comfortable levels. As with many questions, the answer is, “it depends.” Osgood-Schlatter Disease is usually a temporary condition that causes swelling on an area of the upper tibia (shin bone) called the tibial tuberosity. During the rapid adolescent growth spurt this area is vulnerable to overuse as the kneecap tendon places continuous traction on the growing bone. Poor flexibility and activities involving jumping and stopping suddenly contribute to developing this condition. It is fine to be a part of activities as long as there is no limp. However, if limping occurs, rest from activity is recommended.
