WOW is getting to know the Team Wives and Girlfriends in our Team behind the Team segment and letting YOU in on the details.

Last week we got to know Jada Hall and hear about what it was like being married to DeAngelo Hall and raising a family in the NFL world! Next up: Danielle Newsome, who is the girlfriend of #86 tight end Jordan Reed.

Tell us a little about yourself!
I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and I absolutely loved it there! The state is so rich in natural beauty and has so many breathtaking parks and wildlife. My family and I moved to Tampa, Florida when I was fourteen and I lived there until I graduated high school. I then moved to Gainesville, Florida where I am now a senior (Go Gators!!!).

I am set to graduate in the spring with a Psychology (Neuroscience) major. I met Jordan my sophomore year in college. He played football and I ran track. There was a strong knit community amongst the athletes because all athletes were required to go to practice, check in for their meals at the cafeteria, and spend a certain number of hours in the same tutoring building, so I saw Jordan often. He was always too shy to approach me but I kept hearing that he was interested, so one day a mutual friend set us up and we have been inseparable since! This coming December will be the start of our 3rd year together! We also have an adorable pit bull named Ace that we raised together and who is now 1 year old!

Why were you drawn to study pediatric neurosurgery?
I have always had a passion for medicine and ever since my freshman year in high school I knew that I wanted to be a doctor; however, I wasn’t sure which field to go into. At the end of my senior year of high school, I developed an insatiable desire for the human brain and I absolutely loved interacting with children. I remember reading a book called, Gifted Hands written by the Pediatric Neurosurgeon Ben Carson, and I finally decided that that was the path that I wanted to take.

Do you have any causes that are near and dear to your heart?
Due to my interest in pediatric neurosurgery, I have developed a desire to be a part of brain tumor foundations that help fund research and raise awareness about the prevalence of brain tumors among the adolescent population. Currently, I am looking for foundations in the DMV area that cater to this cause.

Do you have any special gameday rituals or superstitions?
I haven’t really developed any game day rituals since we went pro, besides praying. In college before each one of his games, I would deliver a bright gift bag decked out in colorful ribbons to his facility and have one of the staff members deliver it to Jordan. Everyone knew that on Friday’s if there was a colorful gift bag sitting on the front counter that Jordan had a “care package” as they called it. It had all of the essential items like toothpaste, gum, hand sanitizer, and his favorite candy. He always looked forward to those!

Describe your gameday style.
I LOVE dressing up for game day! I like to mix and match and put together looks that are fun and fashionable. To date I have not worn a pair of heels just because I get so excited and always end up jumping and standing on my feet a lot. For next game I might wear a pair of military style platforms along with his jersey! It all depends on the weather!

Do you like to cook? Any favorite dishes?
I like to cook occasionally. In college, Jordan was in charge of breakfast and I was always in charge of dinner. I haven’t been to many tailgating parties but I can devour some wings!

What do you like to do in your free time?
I feel like I study most of the time but in my free time I’m either watching documentaries on the brain (lol exciting… I know) or I’m learning how to do different and interesting activities. Jordan and I don’t go out, so when we are together we usually just play video games or watch movies.

What is the best advice you've ever received?
In my 21 years of life I have had plenty of advice but the ones that have stuck around have been to keep God first, be patient, work hard, and live out your dreams.

Anything else you want to tell our readers about!
Within the next five years I hope to be in a residency program, living out my dreams, and married. God has been so gracious to me in my life and I hope that I continue to succeed in my endeavors.

A huge thank you to Danielle from all of us at WOW!
