What's it like to be married to an NFL player? WOW is getting to know the Team Wives in our Team behind the Team segment and letting YOU in on the details. Up first: Jada Hall!
Born and raised in Bristol, VA, Jada was a cheerleader at Virginia Tech when she first met DeAngelo Hall her sophmore year. They quickly grew close and were engaged in January 2004. After graduating with a bachelors degree in business and marketing management in May 2004, Jada followed DeAngelo to Atlanta where he was drafted. They were married later that same year!
WOW sat down with the Redskins corner back's other half, and asked her a few questions!
What’s your favorite gameday memory?
When my husband won the MVP at the probowl in Hawaii 2011! Everyone from our immediate family was there with us. Watching my husband work so hard for something he loves so much and getting recognized at this event was so amazing!!! Next on the list is winning the super bowl HTTR!!!!
What does your average gameday look like?
Ever since last football season, we decided to keep our kids in 1 school instead of going back and forth from VA and ATL. So, we stay in GA year round but travel as much as possible to see DeAngelo. We definitely go to all the home games, but now our ritual for away games has changed. Because we dont get to see him as much as we used too, we pick and choose which away games that we want to attend. If we are traveling to see them when they are on the road this would be a typical weekend: Saturday morning we would wake up early and go to my son and my daughters games. Our oldest son plays baseball and our oldest daughter cheers. After the games, we will head straight to the airport to catch a flight to where ever the game may be. We always have dinner with DeAngelo the night before, then just hang out and explore the city we are in. Sunday would be game day, then right after the game head back to the airport to go home.
What's your favorite go to dish for your family?
We are definitely simple eaters in my family! Our favorite family dish is DeAngelo's mother's lasagna. I'm so thankful she has passed down the recipe. We usually have this lasagna once a week for dinner! A favorite football party dish would be a classic hotdog.
Describe your gameday style.
Trying to dress my family (5 kids plus myself) can be stressful sometimes :) depending on the game and depending on if I'm taking all my kids to the game will determine what I wear. If it's a monday night game, or a big rivalry game, I try to dress up a little. I'll wear heels, jeans, and a cute redskins top. Gamedays where I'm bringing all my kids (the youngest are 22 month old twins) I'll wear flats with jeans and a jersey or redskins top. I already know when the kids are with me, I will be doing a lot of running around and bathroom trips, so it's best for me to be comfortable. And I never know when one of the kids will spill something on me!!! Thank goodness nowadays, women's NFL fashion wear is more fashionable. I love getting redskins clothes from the Victoria's Secret. They have cute redskins shirts and sweats.
What's one thing that might surprise people about you?
I'm a perfectionist. I like to plan and schedule out as much as my life as possible. Being married and having kids have definitely made me become more spontaneous which sometimes drives me crazy. I'm trying everything to not let the little things get to me and just live life. I even got the tattoo that says "Faith; Let Go & Let God".
Tell us a little bit about it what you've been up to lately?
I've recently partnered with Rodan + Fields, the doctors behind ProActive. They have products for everyone; Anti-aging, Eczema, Rosacea, sun damage, and blemish control. By answering a few questions, the dermatologist will recommend what they believe will work for each person's concerns. By using the regimens in the order suggested by the doctors, you end up getting a prescription based treatment, but without having to pay the prescription price. You also get the benefit of getting the best dermatologist (in my opinion) advice, without having to make an appointment to go and see your dermatologist.
You have a lot going on! How do you find balance and time for yourself?
I never really saw myself in corporate America – I truly love being a stay at home mother and wife! I feel like I have the greatest job in the world. However in the process of raising 5 kids, I found myself so consumed with my kids and my husband that I lost my own identity. After much prayer and research I was presented with this opportunity. I can spend as much or as little time that my life allows, and I can promote my business whether I'm in GA or VA or anywhere else I find myself going.
It can be hard trying to find the balance between being the best wife and mother that I can be and trying to find time for myself, but my favorite aspect of being a business women is being able to do something that I can call my own. Having my own identity given back to me feels great!! One major lesson that I have learned is to be able to be the best "Jada Hall" I can be, I have to be able to have "Jada Hall" time. This is something that I have been praying about for a while now, and I truly believe that when you keep God first, everything else will eventually fall into place. I'm so blessed to be able to do something that I can call my own, without having to give up the time that I need to travel to be there for my husband and being there for my kids.
Are there any causes that you support?
Kids will always hold a special place in my heart. I recently started working with a program called Baskets of Hope. We seek donations from national sponsors and put together baskets to deliver to kids with cancer. They deliver baskets to hospitals in the 32 NFL cities. It's an amazing program that brings hope and encouragement to hospitalized children across the nation.
What is the best advice you've ever received?
To just breathe and be grateful. I try not to complain about whatever may be going on in life, because even when I think times are rough, there's always somebody out in the world who would give anything to have my life. So just be grateful for everything!
BIG thanks to Jada Hall from all of us at WOW for taking the time to answer our questions!
It's our turn.
