On Friday, May 31st, the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation teamed up with the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association to host a Fuel Up to Play 60 Mini-Combine at Redskins Park for an afternoon of fun and football activities with current Redskins players!
More than 50 students from Hillside and Kenilworth Elementary Schools heard from Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association, as they kicked off the afternoon by sharing healthy eating habits and the importance of getting active for at least 60 minutes a day.
Everyone participated in a group stretching session before being split into teams and joined by Redskins players S Jordan Bernstine, LB Ricky Elmore, S DeJon Gomes and CB Josh Wilson to participate in mini-combine activities.
Stations included icebreakers, throwing and catching, an obstacle course, and an agility ladder relay.
Activites got competitive at the agility ladders, where DJ Gomes and Josh Wilson pitted their teams against eachother for a full on relay race across the field, Next time, we suggest having some referees present to catch the false starts and the push up penalties that ensued.
Following the Mini-Combine, participants enjoyed a picnic lunch courtesy of Subway, and received goody bags upon departure that included Play 60 T-Shirts, wristbands and more!
