The Redskins were left without one of their top offensive weapons for the season after tight end Fred Davis suffered a season-ending Achilles injury at the end of October. Davis suffered the injury in the first quarter while running a route in the end zone on the Redskins’ first drive of the game vs. the New York Giants. Commonwealth Orthopaedics reveals more information on torn Achilles injuries below.
You know you have injured your Achilles tendon if you experience some of the following symptoms:
• Pain and stiffness along the Achilles tendon in the morning
• Pain along the tendon or back of the heel that worsens with activity
• Severe pain the day after exercising
• Thickening of the tendon
• Swelling that is present all the time and gets worse throughout the day with activity
If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed about, you should seek medical care from an orthopaedic physician.
