More than 1,000 underserved youth in the D.C. metro area received a toy for the holidays at the Skins Santa Shoppe Monday Dec. 19 at FedExField.
The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, the U.S. Marine Corps and Redskins players and alumni participated in this event as part of Touchdown for Tots, a national toy drive benefitting the Toys for Tots Foundation. To learn more about Touchdown for Tots, click here.
Oshiomogho Atogwe, Brandon Banks, Erik Cook, Travon Bellamy, Chris Chester, Reed Doughty, Chris Neild, Niles Paul, Cole Pemberton, Donté Stallworth and Markus White, as well as Redskins Alumni Gary Clark, Ed Simmons, Raleigh McKenzie, Ravin Caldwell and Clarence Vaughn were all in attendance.
The Redskins’ locker room was completely transformed into Santa’s Toy Shop filled with presents and holiday cheer. Santa Claus, along with the Redskins Hogettes, greeted children while NRG Energy provided each child in attendance with a yo-yo and light-up Santa hat.
“It’s just fun that the kids get to come out and have it here in our locker rooms, meet some of the players, Santa’s here, get to pick out a toy, and just make it a totally enjoyable day for them,” said Redskins safety Reed Doughty.
